Our office is on the seventh floor of the Samedh Complex, which is right near the Associated Petrol Pump on C.G. Road. It’s a very central location in Ahmedabad, so there is always something happening outside. Being on the 701 level gives us a bit of a view of the street below, which is usually packed with cars and people shopping. We handle overseas trading and logistics, which means our day is mostly spent on the phone or sending emails to people in different time zones. The office is often full of folders and shipping documents spread across the desks. Sometimes the lift in the building is slow, so we end up waiting around and chatting with people from the other offices. We have a small pantry where we make coffee and take short breaks. It is a busy atmosphere because things in international trade move fast, and there is always a deadline for some container or another. We aren't a big corporation with a lot of layers; it’s just a handful of us making sure the paperwork is correct and the shipments are on track. We stay late some evenings when we have to talk to someone on the other side of the world, but that’s just part of the job. It can be stressful when things get stuck at customs, but we just deal with it one step at a time. That is just the way we have always done things here.
