Vishvakarma Engineers

Our shop is tucked away in Office No. B-1 at the Naadawati Estate in Rakhial. It’s right opposite the Chakudia Mahadev temple on C.M. Road, which makes it easy to find if you know the area. Rakhial is a gritty, hardworking part of Ahmedabad, and we’ve been here long enough to see the streets change. We do engineering work, mostly involving metal and machinery. The sound of grinding and welding is pretty much the soundtrack to our day. It’s a bit cramped with all the tools and raw materials, but we know where everything is. Our hands usually have a bit of grease on them by ten in the morning. We don’t have a fancy reception area or air-conditioned offices. It’s a workshop where work actually gets done. Sometimes a customer comes in with a broken part that needs fixing right away, and we have to drop what we’re doing to help them out. That’s just part of being a local engineer. We take pride in the fact that we can figure out a solution for most mechanical problems that come through the door. It’s not a clean job, and it’s often physically demanding, but it feels good to finish a project and see it working. We just keep our heads down and focus on the metal in front of us. There is always a lot to do.
