Our place is located out in Chankheda. It’s a fairly large area with different buildings spread out across the grounds. If you walk through the main gates, you’ll see plenty of students rushing between classes or sitting under the trees with their books. We’ve got a lot of history here, and you can see it in some of the older brickwork and the worn-down paths. The labs are usually full of equipment that’s seen a lot of use over the years, and there’s always that specific smell of chalk and old paper in the classrooms. It’s not a shiny new campus, but it has a real sense of purpose. We spend a lot of time in the staff rooms or walking across the courtyards to check on different departments. During exam season, the whole place gets very quiet and tense, but usually, it’s quite noisy with everyone talking at once. We don’t really do much to promote the place; it just exists as a part of the local landscape here. Sometimes the fans in the ceiling squeak a bit, and we have to remind ourselves to get them fixed. It’s a busy environment with a lot going on every single day, from morning lectures to late evening study sessions. It’s just a big, working institution where people come to learn their trade and then move on. There is always someone around, even after the sun goes down.
