Universal Exports

Universal Exports sits at shops 5 and 6 in Sumati Avenue, right across from Rajkamal Bakery in Maninagar. The smell of fresh bread from the bakery across the street is one of the best parts of working here. Our space is mostly filled with boxes and packing tape. Since we handle exports, there’s always something being wrapped or labeled. It’s not a large office, but we make the most of the two units we have. Maninagar is a lively place, and there’s always people walking by our front door. We keep the doors open most of the time to let some air in. You’ll see us shuffling papers or checking inventories at our desks, which are probably too small for all the stuff we put on them. We don't use big words to describe what we do. We just get things from one place and send them to another. It’s a lot of coordination and making sure the labels are right. Sometimes the courier guys are late, and we end up sitting on the steps waiting for them. We’ve gotten to know the regular delivery drivers pretty well over the years. We don't have a corporate hierarchy here. We all just jump in and help when a big shipment needs to go out. It’s practical, everyday work. No bells or whistles, just us trying to keep the flow going from our little spot in Maninagar. It’s a busy life, but we like it.
