Tecmec Machine Crafts

Being in Vatva GIDC is about as industrial as it gets. Our place, Tecmec Machine Crafts, is at number 42 in the Parmeshwar Estate-2. It’s a row of units where everyone is making something. You can hear the hum of machines from the moment you turn into Phase 1. We mostly do custom work, things that people can’t just buy off a shelf. A lot of metal shavings and oil on the floor, but that’s just how a machine shop is. We don’t have a separate office really, just a desk in the corner where the phone sits. If it rings, we usually have to step outside to hear what the person is saying. It’s a lot of long hours, especially when a customer has a breakdown and needs a part made yesterday. We don’t mind it, though. It’s good to be busy. The guys here have steady hands and they’ve been working with these lathes for decades. We don’t put on airs or pretend to be something we aren’t. We are just a small shop in a big estate trying to do honest work. Sometimes we sit outside for a bit during the lunch break just to get away from the noise. Vatva is a tough place to work in the summer heat, but we keep the fans going and get on with it. Every piece we make has to be just right, otherwise it’s just scrap and a waste of time.
