We operate Talati & Talati out of a house in Matrumilan Society. It's number 18, right by the Ankur Cross Roads in Naranpura. Being in a residential society makes the office feel a bit more relaxed than those high-rise buildings downtown. Ahmedabad can be a hectic city, but Naranpura has its own rhythm. We have been here doing accounting work for quite some time now. Most of our days are filled with auditing books and handling various tax matters for local clients. People around here know where to find us when it’s time to file their returns. We don’t go in for much show. It’s mostly just desks piled with folders and the sound of tea being made in the small kitchen. Sometimes the neighbors walk by while we are middle of a complicated audit. We deal with all sorts of financial records, from small shops to bigger companies across Gujarat. It’s steady work that requires a lot of patience. If the numbers don't match, we stay late until we figure out why. That’s just how it goes in this profession. We try to be clear with people about their finances without using too much jargon. It’s better when everyone understands what’s happening with their money. We’ve seen the area around Ankur Cross Roads change over the years, but we’re still here at the same desk, checking the math and filing the papers as they come in.
