T. R. Engineering

T. R. Engineering is located at Rigel Estate, right across from Gujarat Bottling Road. It’s a busy area in Ahmedabad with lots of trucks moving around, mostly because of the trailer shops nearby. Our unit is number 10. We spend most of our time out in the workshop. It’s not the quietest place to work, but we are used to the noise by now. We handle a lot of different engineering tasks. Some days we are fixing things, other days we are building something from scratch. We don't spend much time on the computer unless we have to. The guys on the floor have been doing this for years. They don't need a lot of direction anymore. We just get the specs and get to it. Sometimes the heat in Ahmedabad gets pretty bad in the afternoons, so we start early to beat the sun. We keep a stash of cold water in the back. People usually find us by word of mouth. Someone knows someone who had a part made here, and then they show up at the gate. We don't have any big signs or fancy posters. Just a plain door and the sound of tools. If we aren't at the desk, we are probably under a machine or measuring something out back. It’s a simple way to run a business, but it works for us. We've stayed in this same spot for a while now and the neighbors are alright.
