We operate out of Akash Apartment, which is tucked away behind Oxford Tower on Gurukul Road. Memnagar is a very crowded part of Ahmedabad, and finding a parking spot near our office is usually a nightmare. We have two names on the door, Swt Pvt Ltd and Urjaexports Pvt Ltd, but it is really just the same small group of us working together. The office is not very big and it is often filled with stacks of paperwork and boxes waiting to be sent out. We deal with exports and various business tasks every day. It is not glamorous work, and we spend a lot of time on the phone or staring at computer screens. There is a small tea stall just down the road where we go when we need a break from the office. The traffic on Gurukul Road is constant, so there is always a background hum of engines and horns. We do not have a corporate lounge or a receptionist. If the phone rings, whoever is closest picks it up. Sometimes the printer jams right when we have a deadline, which can be frustrating, but we manage to get things done. We have been in Gujarat for a long time and we know how to navigate the local way of doing business. It is just a practical, no-frills operation that keeps us busy from morning until night. We like it that way because it keeps things honest.
