Smile Frame & Picture is over at 1 Triveni Complex. We are right by the Devendra Bus Stop in Naranpura. If you’ve ever waited for a bus there, you’ve probably seen our front window. We do a lot of framing, obviously. People bring in photos of their kids, old wedding pictures, or even some art they bought on vacation. The shop usually smells a bit like wood glue and cut timber. We have samples of different frames hanging on the walls so people can see what they like. It gets a bit messy with the sawdust sometimes, even though we try to sweep up. It’s just part of the job. We’ve lived and worked in Naranpura for a long time. The Triveni Complex is a familiar spot for the locals. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who know how to handle the glass and the backing boards without breaking anything. It’s careful work. Sometimes a customer isn't sure what color looks best, so we spend time holding up different borders. We don't rush things because if a frame is crooked, it ruins the whole picture. We like seeing the finished product when someone picks it up and they look happy. That’s why we named it Smile, I guess. Our workbench is scarred with cuts from years of use, but it's sturdy. We don't really have a sales person; you just talk to whoever is holding the hammer. It is a good, honest way to work.
