Shree Krishna Industries

Our workshop is at 215 in the Puspak Industrial Estate. It is a loud place with the sound of machinery and metal clanging from all the units nearby. Shree Krishna Industries is basically a big open floor with various machines set up for production. We have a small corner walled off with some plywood to serve as an office. It’s not the cleanest place, as there is always some grease or metal shavings around. We wear heavy boots and work clothes all day. The industrial estate has a lot of small alleys and it’s easy to get lost if you don't know the unit numbers. We have a few guys who handle the lathes and the presses. We take our breaks sitting on plastic chairs near the entrance to get some fresh air. The electricity goes out sometimes, which stops everything, but we use that time to clean the tools. We don’t have a website or any fancy brochures. People usually find us through word of mouth or by just walking into the estate looking for work to be done. We make things, we pack them up, and we load them onto the small tempos that come by. It’s a very basic way of working. We’ve been at this spot for quite a few years and we have our routine down. It’s just hard work and keeping the machines running. We hope to get a new lathe machine sometime next year.
