Our shop is located in Zaveriwad, which is tucked inside Ratan Pole near Relief Road. This is the very heart of the old city market area in Ahmedabad. It is incredibly crowded every single day of the week. If you come by, you will see rows and rows of small shops, and ours is where we focus on imitation jewelry. It is a small place, much like all the others around here. We have glass cases filled with all sorts of pieces that look like the real thing but are much more affordable. We spend our time showing different designs to customers who are usually shopping for a big wedding or a local festival. There are a lot of bright lights and shiny things everywhere you look. The space inside is quite tight, so we all have to move around each other very carefully. We do not have a marketing team or any fancy advertising. We just open the shop shutters in the morning and wait for the crowds to arrive from the main road. Ratan Pole has a very specific smell of street food mixed with the scent of old buildings. We like being a part of this community. The customers can be very picky about the details, so we spend a lot of time taking things out of the cases. It involves a lot of standing on our feet all day. We just sell jewelry to people who want to look nice.
