Shiv Jyoti Medical & Optical Store

At Shiv Jyoti Medical & Optical Store, we do a bit of both. We have the medicines on one side and the glasses on the other. We are at No. 5 in Tata Nagar, right in the Meghaninagar area. It’s a decent sized shop but it gets crowded when we have more than three people inside. The optical side has a lot of frames on display in those glass cases that we have to wipe down every single day to keep the fingerprints off. People come in to get their eyes checked or just to pick up a new pair of glasses when their old ones break. Then there is the medical side where we handle all the regular prescriptions. Meghaninagar is a busy place with lots of houses around, so there is always someone coming in for something. We have been here for years, and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but it works for us. We spend a lot of time talking to the neighbors. There is a lot of paperwork with the stock coming in every week. Sometimes the lights flicker when the power is a bit shaky, but we have a small backup for that. It’s just me and a helper most days. We keep things moving, making sure the glasses are fitted right and the medicine packets are sorted. It's a steady routine from morning until we close the shutters at night.
