Shilpa General Store

Running this shop in Rushir Apartment in Ghatlodiya keeps us busy most days. We've been here for a while now, right in the K K Nagar area. It is just a small place but we try to keep most things people need for their houses. In the morning, it gets quite crowded with people coming to pick up milk or bread before they head to work. My family helps out too because it's hard to manage everything alone from morning until late at night. Sometimes the delivery guys come late and we have to stack the shelves ourselves while customers are waiting. Ahmedabad gets really hot in the summer, so the afternoons are usually a bit slower when everyone stays inside. That is when I usually check what is running low on the shelves. We have bags of grains and pulses sitting near the counter. It isn't a fancy supermarket, just a regular store where you can find soap, oil, or maybe some snacks for the kids. People from the nearby blocks come by to chat as much as they come to buy things. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, but we just keep the doors open and wait it out. It is a simple life here in D 6. We know most of the faces that walk through the door. Keeping track of everything is a lot of work but it is what we do. Just a local shop for the neighborhood.
