We are located on Gandhi Road, right across from the Fuvara, which is the big fountain everyone knows. Our shop is on the first floor, situated right next to the Bank of Baroda. It is a very old part of the city, so the streets are narrow and always packed with people and scooters. You have to walk up a flight of stairs to get inside Krishna Trading Co. The building has that old-style architecture you see a lot in this neighborhood. Being near the bank is helpful because people always use it as a landmark when they are trying to find us for the first time. The noise from the road outside is pretty constant, with horns honking and vendors calling out, but you sort of get used to it after a while. Inside, it’s a bit quieter but you can still feel the energy of the market. We have been here on Gandhi Road for a long time, and the interior is pretty basic—just shelves and desks and a lot of papers. It’s not the kind of place that’s designed for looks; it’s more about having a spot to do business and talk to the folks who come in. We spend a lot of our day just managing the stock and talking to the people who stop by from the local area. It’s a busy life, but it keeps us on our toes and the days go by fast.
