We are over in Paldi, at the Dewan Apartments. It’s tucked away in Bonny Travel’s Lane. It’s a bit of a hidden spot if you don’t know where the cross roads are. Ratnakar The Art Of Jewellery is where we do all our work. It’s not a big showroom with bright lights and mirrors everywhere like the shops in the mall. It’s more of a workshop feel here. We spend a lot of time sitting at the benches working on small pieces. The tools we use are quite old but they work perfectly fine for us. We’ve been making pieces for local families for a very long time now. Some people bring in their grandmother's old things to get them fixed or polished. We like that kind of work because it has history. It’s usually quiet in the lane, which is good because you need to focus. You need a very steady hand for this kind of jewelry making. We don’t really have a big staff here. It’s just us doing everything. We know our customers by name and often know their kids too. We don’t do much advertising at all. Word of mouth is how people find out about our little shop. Sometimes we sit and have tea with the people who visit us. The apartment isn’t huge, so we have to stay organized. Every little stone has its place in the drawers. It's a simple life.
