Ratnakar - The Art Of Jewellery

Ratnakar is tucked away in B/2 at Dewan Apartments. If you’re walking down Bonny Travels Lane near Paldi Cross Road, you’ll find us there. It’s a quiet spot compared to the main road. We do jewellery work here, focusing on the actual making and fixing side of things. It’s not like those big showrooms with bright lights and security guards at every door. It’s more personal. We sit at our benches with small tools and magnifying glasses. There’s usually some tea going and some talk about the latest designs. We handle a lot of gold and stones, but it’s mostly about the craft. People come in with old pieces that need a bit of life put back into them or looking for something specific for a family event. We’ve been in this Paldi area for a while, so we know the regulars. The space isn't huge, but it's enough for what we do. Sometimes the lane gets crowded with scooters, but that’s just life in this part of town. We don't put on an act. If a piece can’t be fixed, we say so. If a design is going to take longer than expected, we tell the customer. It’s a very hands-on job. We spend our hours looking at tiny details that most people wouldn't even notice. It’s just what we do every day at the shop and we like the quiet routine of it.
