Our office is at L/503 in the Shilalekh Society in Ahmedabad. It’s a residential-style building, so it feels more like a home than a stiff office building. Ramboll Imi Soft Engg Pvt Ltd has been here in Gujarat for some time. We like the vibe of the society; it’s mostly just regular people going about their lives. Sometimes you can hear kids playing outside while we’re trying to finish a project. The space inside is pretty simple. We have our desks, some old filing cabinets, and a kettle for making tea. We aren't trying to impress anyone with expensive furniture. Most of the time, we’re just focused on engineering tasks and making sure the calculations are right. Living and working in Shilalekh Society means we have to follow the local rules, like keeping the noise down during the afternoon. We usually take our lunch breaks together, often sitting on the balcony if the weather isn't too hot. You can see the traffic moving in the distance, but it feels peaceful enough here. We don't have a receptionist to greet people at the door. If someone knocks, whoever is closest just gets up to see who it is. It’s that kind of place. Our desks are covered in sketches and half-empty coffee mugs. We haven't spent much money on making the office look fancy; we just buy what we need to get the engineering done. It’s a practical way of thinking that has served us well over the years.
