Radhe Novelty & Gifts is tucked away right near Kalyan School, just across from the Ilaj Complex in the Khokhra area. It is a handy spot because the kids from the school always come by looking for pens or little toys or notebooks after their classes are done for the day. Ahmedabad can get so hot in the summer months that we spend half the day just trying to stay cool inside the shop with the door half-shut. We have got shelves piled high with all sorts of novelty items and small things. Sometimes I even forget what is hidden in the back corner until I have to go back there to find a specific gift box for someone. It is not a huge place, so we have to be very careful about where we stack the new deliveries so people do not trip over them. My brother usually handles the people coming in while I deal with the delivery men and the paperwork. It is a lot of work keeping track of every single little item, but it keeps our minds busy. We do not do anything fancy like big advertisements or signs. Most people just see us when they are heading to the school or the hospital complex nearby. We have been here long enough that we know which neighbors like which kind of items. It is just a normal shop run by normal people.
