Punjabi Tarka

You can find Punjabi Tarka up on the first floor of Himalaya Arcade, specifically in 106, A Block. We are right across from Vastrapur Lake, which is a really popular spot for people to walk in the evenings. Being on the first floor means we have to carry everything up the stairs or use the lift when it’s working. The arcade is always full of people visiting the different shops and offices. Inside our place, it’s mostly about the kitchen sounds and the smell of the tarka being prepared. We have a few windows that look out towards the lake, which is nice when the sun starts to set. The space isn’t huge, but we make it work with the tables we have. Vastrapur is a lively neighborhood, so there is never a dull moment outside. We get a lot of students and office workers who are just looking for something to eat without any fuss. We aren't a big chain or anything corporate like that. It’s just a local restaurant where we do everything ourselves from scratch. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded and loud, but that’s just how it is in a busy arcade. We spend our day prepping the ingredients and making sure the stoves are ready for the next rush of people coming in from the lake area. It is a lot of work to keep a kitchen going, but we just take it one order at a time.
