Learning to drive in Ahmedabad is no joke, especially around Shreyas Crossing. Our office is tucked away in Mangaltirth, over in the Paldi area. It’s a busy spot, which is actually good for students because if you can handle the traffic right here, you can handle it anywhere. We spend most of our time out on the road, sitting in the passenger seat and hoping the clutch doesn’t get burnt out again. The car we use is older, but it works fine for what we need to do. We don’t have a fancy waiting room or anything like that. It’s just a desk, some chairs, and a lot of paperwork for the license applications. Sometimes the weather gets really hot, and we’re just sitting there in the car sweating, waiting for the student to find the right gear. Most people who come to us are pretty nervous at first, which is normal. We see a lot of young kids and some older folks too who never got around to learning. It’s a lot of repeating the same instructions over and over, but that’s just how it goes. We take a lunch break when we can, usually grabbing something quick from a nearby stall. It’s a simple life, just driving back and forth all day. Being near Shreyas Crossing means we are always in the thick of it, but we’ve gotten used to the noise and the constant honking after all these years.
