Prachi Creation

I have a small workspace at C-101 in Shyam Villa-3, located in New Naroda. It’s where I do all the work for Prachi Creation. It’s not a big factory or a store in a mall. It’s just a room filled with sewing machines, thread rolls of every color, and piles of fabric waiting to be cut. Most days I’m hunched over a table with a pair of shears or listening to the hum of the machine. I make different types of outfits and sometimes help people with alterations when they need something to fit better. Being in Shyam Villa-3 means most of my customers are neighbors or people who live nearby. They drop off their cloth and tell me what they want. I don’t use any fancy computer programs for the designs. I just draw them out on paper or work from what people tell me. Sometimes I run out of a specific color of thread and have to go out to the market to find a match. It’s simple, steady work. The room can get a bit messy with scraps of fabric on the floor, but I know where everything is. I don’t have a big sign outside. People just know C-101 is where to come for their stitching needs. It’s just me working day to day, trying to keep up with the orders that come in. It gets quite hot in the afternoons but I keep the fan going.
