Our shop is at Plot No. 36 in the Bima Shopping Centre. If you know Maninagar, you know it’s always crowded and there’s always something happening in Rambaug. Patel Sales & Agency has been in this spot for a good while now. It’s not a huge place, just enough room for us and the stock we keep on the metal shelves. The parking around the shopping centre can be a real headache some days, especially on the weekends when everyone is out for shopping. We see a lot of familiar faces coming by just to say hello or ask about something they need to find. Sometimes the fan overhead makes a bit of noise but we don’t mind it much anymore. My brother and I take turns sitting at the desk and answering the phone when it rings. We don’t have a website or anything like that, just the physical shop here. People usually find us by word of mouth or because they were already walking through Rambaug to get somewhere else. The mornings are usually quiet until the other shops open up around ten. Then it stays busy until late in the evening when the street lights finally come on. We keep the ledger books by hand mostly because it feels easier. It’s a traditional way of doing things but it works for us. Living and working in Maninagar means you’re never really bored. There’s always some noise from the street or food smells from the nearby stalls. It is just life here.
