Our place is at number 1389 in the Damodar Chaukthu area, specifically in Mamunayak Pole. If you know Kalupur, you know how these narrow lanes are. It’s right near Tankshal. The pole is full of history and old buildings, and we are tucked away in one of them. Getting things in and out of the shop can be a bit of a struggle because of how tight the streets are. We often have to carry things by hand for a distance before we can load them. The shop itself feels very old, with high ceilings and heavy doors. We spend a lot of time working under the fans, especially when it gets hot in the summer months. There is always a smell of raw materials in the air—wood or cloth, depending on what we are working on that week. We don't spend money on fancy signs or decorations. We just have our workstations and the items we make. Sometimes the neighbors’ kids run past the door, making a lot of noise, but it adds to the life of the place. We start our work after a quick prayer in the morning and keep going until the evening bells ring at the nearby temple. It is a simple life here in Kalupur. We don’t have a lot of bells and whistles, just the tools we use and the space we work in every single day at our spot near Tankshal.
