Paramhans General Store

Our shop is right there in Shanti Dayal Apartment at Shubhash Chowk. It’s been here for a good while now in the Meman Nag area of Ahmedabad. It isn't a huge place, just a regular general store where we keep the things people in the building and around the neighborhood actually need. You’ll find things like soaps, packets of biscuits, and some stationery too. We open up pretty early because people usually realize they ran out of milk or sugar right when they're making tea in the morning. The street gets quite noisy during the day with all the traffic passing through the chowk. Sometimes the shelves get a bit dusty because of the road, but we try to keep things organized enough so you can find what you’re looking for quickly. We don’t really do fancy displays or anything like that. It’s just us behind the counter, mostly me or my brother, handing out change and packing bags. Some days it’s really busy and other days it’s just the regulars coming in for their daily paper or a smoke. We know most of the faces around here by name since we’ve been at this spot for so long. If we don’t have something, we usually just tell you to check back in a couple of days when the delivery truck comes by. It’s a simple way of working, but it keeps the kitchen running for everyone nearby. We don’t have any big goals, just keeping the shelves full.
