Our office is located in Shantiniketan, on the 9th floor, Room No. 16. It’s at 8, Camac Street in Kolkata. Being on the 9th floor gives us a bit of a view, though mostly we are just looking at other buildings. Camac Street is always a bit of a mess with traffic and people, so getting to the office in the morning can be a bit of a struggle. Once we are inside, it’s mostly about the paperwork and the phones. We do import and export stuff, which basically means a lot of coordinating with different people and making sure everything is where it should be. It’s not like those fancy startups you see on the news. We have old filing cabinets and desks that have seen better days. We aren't trying to impress anyone with the decor. Padma Impex is just a small group of us trying to keep the trade moving. We take our breaks together and talk about the news or the weather. Sometimes the elevators in the building take forever, which is a bit of a pain when you are in a hurry. But that’s just part of working in an older high-rise. We don’t have any big corporate slogans. We just show up, do the work, and hope the shipments arrive on time. It’s simple, really. There’s always something to do, and we just tackle it one task at a time.
