National Institute Of Design

You can find us at Galaxy Apartment, specifically A-21, over in Bodakdev. It’s a well-known part of Ahmedabad, and we’ve been here for a good chunk of time now. This branch of the National Institute Of Design operates out of this apartment setup. It’s not your typical campus feel, more like a focused workspace in a residential building. Ahmedabad has grown a lot around us, but Bodakdev remains a solid place to be based. We have students and staff coming through quite often, and the atmosphere is usually pretty busy with different projects going on. It’s a bit cramped sometimes when we have a lot of materials out, but we make it work. The apartment has been modified to fit what we need, with some rooms for meetings and others for actual design work. You can see the city from the windows, which is nice when you need a break from looking at the screens. We don't go in for much pomp or show. People come here to learn and to work on their ideas. The 380054 area is convenient for getting around the rest of Gujarat too. Sometimes the elevator in the building acts up, so we just take the stairs. It’s a very grounded way to work. We just focus on the design process and helping people figure out their projects. It’s a practical, everyday kind of place for designers to gather and get things done.
