Modern Plastics

Out in Sarangpur, at Plot No 1515/6, is where we set up Modern Plastics. It’s in the Dolatkhana area. If you’re looking for us, we’re right opposite the Ek Toda'S Masjid. You can’t miss the masjid, so that’s how most people find our gate. We do a lot of plastic work here. It’s an industrial spot, so it’s not very pretty, but it gets the job done. The floor is usually covered in scraps and the air feels heavy when the sun is out. We have a small group of workers who show up early every morning. We don't spend money on fancy signs or office furniture. Most of our chairs are probably older than the business itself. It’s a practical place. We focus on making the parts and getting them boxed up. Sometimes we have a backlog of orders and the whole place feels a bit chaotic, but we manage to sort it out. I spend a lot of time on the phone talking to suppliers. It’s a lot of back and forth. We don't have any grand ideas about changing the world. We just want to make plastic products and keep the machines running. It’s steady work. When the evening prayer starts at the masjid, we usually start thinking about winding down for the day. It’s been this way for years now and we are used to it.
