Micron Computers

Micron Computers is at 205, Srenik Avenue, which is right by the Naranpura Cross Road. It’s a lively neighborhood with lots of people coming and going. Our shop is on the second floor, so you have to walk up a couple of flights of stairs. It’s a small place, mostly filled with towers of old monitors and boxes of motherboards. There’s always a faint smell of burnt solder because we spend a lot of time fixing circuits and power supplies. It isn't a clean, white-walled retail store. It’s a workshop. There are cables hanging from hooks and screws sitting in little plastic cups on every table. We get a lot of local students and office workers who bring in their laptops when something goes wrong. Most of the time, we’re just sitting under bright desk lamps looking for a tiny fault in a piece of hardware. We have an old radio that plays in the background, mostly just to drown out the sound of the traffic from the cross road below. Sometimes we run out of space to move, and we have to do a big clear-out of the old parts that can't be fixed anymore. We don't have a website or anything like that; people usually just hear about us from their neighbors. It’s a steady rhythm of diagnosing problems and hoping the spare parts arrive on time. We keep the shop open until late most days.
