Mehta Handicraft

Mehta Handicraft is tucked away in Adhikar Soc., specifically Part-2 near D-Cabin. Being in Sabarmati, it's a quiet enough area most days, though things get busy around the shop. We’ve been at number 23 for a while now. It’s not a huge setup. We mostly spend our time sorting through the items we have. There’s usually a pile of stuff in the corner waiting to be sorted or boxed up. We don’t have a fancy showroom. If you come by, you’ll probably find someone drinking chai or talking about the latest delivery. We started small and stayed that way. It’s easier to manage things when you know every corner of the place. Sabarmati has changed a lot over the years, but our little spot stays pretty much the same. We have a few regulars who drop in, and mostly we just focus on the work at hand. It gets dusty sometimes, especially when the wind picks up near the railway lines. We don't mind. It’s just how things are here in D-Cabin. Most of what we do involves a lot of manual work. Hands get dirty and the floor is rarely empty. We keep the doors open when it’s not too hot. Sometimes the neighbors’ kids run past. It feels like a real community. We aren't trying to be anything we aren't. We just do the handicraft work and call it a day, every single day. That's how we've always done it.
