Mai Krupa Art Centre

We have been running Mai Krupa Art Centre from our space at 3, Mani Laxmi Appartment for a long time. It’s situated within the Daxini Society in Maninagar, which is a pretty well-known part of Ahmedabad. If you know where Meghdoot School is, then finding us is easy because we are right near there. We didn't plan on being a big business or anything. It just started with a love for art and needing a place to keep all the brushes, paints, and canvases. The apartment works well for us because it’s quiet and we can just focus on what we are making. Sometimes the neighbors from the society pop their heads in to see what we are working on. We don't have fancy signs or a big storefront. It’s just the name on the door and a lot of work happening inside. Maninagar has changed quite a bit since we first got here, but Mani Laxmi Appartment stays the same. We spend most of our mornings getting things ready and then work until the sun goes down. Usually, the sound of the kids at Meghdoot School tells us what time of day it is. It’s a simple setup we have here. We keep our own hours and mostly just stick to the work. We aren't really into the whole corporate thing, just local people doing what they know how to do. Ahmedabad is full of small places like ours if you look closely enough.
