Sarjan Arts

Sarjan Arts is tucked away in the Raja Ram Building at Lal Darwaja. If you know the area, we’re at 2177/3, which is right behind the Natraj Hotel near Vasant Chowk. It’s a very old part of Ahmedabad, and it’s always crowded with people and scooters. We’ve been here for years, doing our art and design work in this little corner of the city. The building has that old feel to it, and our workspace is filled with tools and materials we’ve gathered over time. It’s not the quietest place to work because of the street noise outside, but we’ve gotten used to it. People come to us for all kinds of creative things, and we just do our best to make it look right. We don't use a lot of big words to describe what we do; we just show the work we have finished. There’s always someone coming in to check on an order or to see if we can fix something they have. We like the bustle of Lal Darwaja, and being near the hotel makes it easy for newcomers to find us. We keep the shop open pretty regular hours, though sometimes we stay late if a project is proving to be a bit tricky. It’s a simple operation, run by people who actually care about the stuff they’re making with their hands. There is always a lot going on here in the building.
