Komal Handicrafts

You can find us at 1/6, Krishnanagar Society No. 1, which is right near the Swaminarayan Mandir in New Wadaj. We call ourselves Komal Handicrafts. It’s a small place, more like a workshop than a store. We have people coming in and out all day, mostly locals who work with their hands. There is always the smell of wood and glue in the air. We don't have a big fancy showroom with bright lights. Most of our items are kept in crates or on simple wooden shelves we built ourselves. Sometimes the place is a mess with sawdust and scraps, but that’s just how it goes when you’re making things. We’ve been in this society for years, so everyone knows us. We don't do much advertising; we just rely on people seeing what we make and telling their friends. The temple nearby brings a lot of foot traffic to the area, so sometimes people pop in just to see what the noise is about. We’re not a big factory. It’s just a few of us sitting on stools, working on different pieces. It takes time to get things right, and sometimes we make mistakes and have to start over. We don't mind. It’s just how the work is. We like living and working in New Wadaj. It’s home for us, and the shop is just part of that life.
