Janta Motor Driving School

Our driving school is tucked away in the Gulshan Flats near Ellis Bridge, right behind VS Hospital. Ahmedabad traffic is getting more crowded every single year, so there's always someone new wanting to learn how to handle a car safely. We start most people off in the quieter lanes around the hospital area before we ever take them out onto the big main roads. It’s a small operation, mostly just a few of us and the cars we keep for the lessons. We don't have a big fancy office, just the space at number 5 where we handle all the forms and explain the basic road signs to the new students. Learning to drive is a big deal for a lot of people, so we try to keep things very calm and simple during the lessons. We see everyone from teenagers getting their first license to older adults who are finally tired of taking rickshaws or the bus everywhere. Some days the Ahmedabad heat is really tough, but we keep the windows down or the AC on and just keep going with the schedule. We know the shortcuts and the tricky intersections around Ellis Bridge pretty well by now. It's not a complicated business; we just sit with people, teach them about the gears, and help them get ready for their driving test. Most of our students come from the nearby apartments because we’re right here in the neighborhood and they can just walk over for their practice.
