We are situated on the first floor of D K House, which is located very close to Mithakhali Circle in the Ellis Bridge area. It’s a convenient location for people in Ahmedabad, though the traffic around the circle can be quite a headache during peak hours. If you look out from our front windows, you can see Vanikar Garden just across the road. It’s a bit of greenery in the middle of a lot of concrete. Our office space is divided into a few simple classrooms with whiteboards and rows of chairs. We don’t have much in the way of fancy decor or expensive furniture. The focus here is just on the work. We usually arrive early to open the windows and let some air in before the day gets too hot. There is always a lot of paperwork to deal with, and you’ll often see piles of assignments sitting on the main desk. We don’t use any complicated systems; we just keep track of everything in old-fashioned registers. The building itself is busy, with people coming and going from other offices on the different floors. We’ve gotten to know the security guard and the people who run the nearby stationery shops. It’s a very local, down-to-earth kind of place. We spend our evenings making sure everything is ready for the next day, often staying until the streetlights are well and truly on. It is a modest setup, but it suits us just fine.
