Devon Plantations & Industries Ltd. is located on the 2nd Floor of the K.B. Commercial Centre, right near Dinbai Tower in Laldarwaja. It’s a busy part of town, so getting to the office at number 34 can be a bit of a scramble in the mornings. Inside, it’s mostly shelves full of old files and maps of the plantation areas we look after. Even though we are in a commercial building in the city, our minds are usually on the land and the crops. We spend a lot of time on the phone with managers who are actually out in the fields. It’s a lot of coordination. The air conditioner in the office makes a weird rattling sound, but we’ve gotten used to it. We aren't the type to have a polished reception area with fresh flowers. It’s more about the paperwork, the harvest cycles, and the logistics of moving goods. Some of us have been with the company for twenty years or more, so we know the history of every plot of land we deal with. We don't use a lot of big words or try to sound more important than we are. We just handle the business of the plantations as best as we can from this small office. It’s steady work, and it keeps us grounded. When the harvest season hits, it gets very busy, but otherwise, we just keep the files moving.
