I run D J Jack from a spot opposite Raipur Darwaja on Geeta Mandir Road. It’s a very busy part of Ahmedabad, especially with all the traffic near Kankariya Road. The shop is small, mostly filled with big speakers, amplifiers, and boxes of wires. I’ve lived in this area my whole life, so I know most of the people around here. We provide music setups for all sorts of local gatherings, like birthday parties or small street festivals. It gets very loud when we are testing the equipment, and sometimes the neighbors complain a bit, but they are generally okay with it. My workshop is at the back where I fix any broken cables or loose connections. It’s a dusty place because of all the construction nearby, so I have to clean the gear often. I usually spend my afternoons sitting on a plastic chair out front, waiting for customers to drop by. We have some old lights and smoke machines too. It’s not a fancy studio, just a practical space where we store our tools. During the festival months, I’m barely at the shop because we are out setting up stages everywhere. I don’t use any big marketing tricks; people just know me as Jack from Raipur Darwaja. I’ve been doing this for years, and the gear keeps getting heavier while I’m getting older. It’s a living, and it keeps me connected to the city. I just like seeing people dance.
