Jay Bhavani Wood Works

Down at Sumukh Industrial Estate, right across from Kiran Industries, you’ll find our workshop. We’re at number 13. This part of Vatva in Ahmedabad is always humming with the sound of machines and trucks. At Jay Bhavani Wood Works, we spend our time surrounded by piles of timber and a lot of sawdust. It gets in your hair and on your clothes, but you get used to it after the first week. We do all sorts of things with wood. Some days it’s building frames for a local construction job and other days we’re just fixing a broken door someone brought in. The heat in the industrial estate can be pretty rough during May, so we have these big old fans that mostly just move the dust around. We’ve been at this location on Bombay Conductor Road for many years. We’ve seen other shops come and go. It’s just me and a few guys who know how to handle a saw. We don’t have a front desk or a receptionist. If you want to talk to us, you just walk into the shed and shout over the noise. We don’t do any big marketing or fancy brochures. People know us because we’ve been here so long and we just get the pieces cut and joined like they asked. It is honest work and we try to keep the costs fair for everyone who comes by.
