Bhadrakali Industries

Our factory is over at Plot No. L-614 in the G.I.D.C. Estate in Odhav. It’s a typical industrial area with lots of metal sheds and the sound of trucks moving all day long. Bhadrakali Industries is what we call ourselves. We do a lot of manufacturing here, so it’s always hot and there’s always a bit of grease on everything. We have a small office section, but most of us spend our time out on the floor with the machines. It’s hard work and it gets very dusty, especially in the summer when the wind blows through the open doors. We don't have a polished website or a fancy logo. We just have our plot number and a bunch of loyal workers who have been with us since the start. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we all have to scramble to fix it so we don't fall behind on our schedule. It’s not a quiet place to work, but we like the rhythm of it. We just make what we make and hope the customers are satisfied with the results. We don't talk about excellence or stuff like that; we just try to do a solid job every day. The tea break at four is the highlight of the afternoon for most of the guys. We just keep things moving and try to stay out of trouble with the estate managers. It's a busy life.
