Basil Restaurant

Our restaurant is in the Dwarkesh Complex, just off C G Road and near the Klassic Gold Hotel. C G Road is always packed with people shopping or going to work, but we are tucked slightly away in the complex. It’s a bit quieter than being right on the main street, which is nice. We spend a lot of time in the kitchen. There’s always chopping to do or sauces to simmer. We don’t have a massive menu, just a selection of dishes we know how to make well. The dining room has some tables and chairs that we’ve had for a while. We try to keep the place tidy and comfortable for anyone who walks in. Sometimes people come in for a quick lunch during their work break, and other times it’s a family having a slower meal in the evening. We don’t have a fancy host at the door; usually, whoever is free just greets you. My brother handles a lot of the supply shopping, going to the market early to find what we need. We’ve had some of the same staff for years, so we all know how the kitchen runs. It’s not a corporate chain, just a local spot where we serve food every day. Sometimes we run out of a certain ingredient and have to change a dish slightly, but that’s just how it goes with fresh cooking. We like being part of the food scene here. It’s a lot of work but it's what we do every day for the neighbors.
