Ajay Art

Ajay Art is based at No. A/6 in the Pratik Tenements, right on India Colony Road in Bapunagar. It is more of a workshop than anything else. We have cans of paint and different types of brushes scattered all over the place. The floor usually has a few splashes of color on it from projects we worked on last week. We have been in this tenement for a long time, and all the neighbors know us by the smell of the paint or the sound of us moving things around. It is a small space, so we have to be careful not to trip over the materials we have stored near the door. We do most of our work on a large wooden table that has been carved into and stained over the years. During the summer, it gets quite hot inside, so we keep the door open to get a bit of a breeze from the road. India Colony Road is always full of activity, so there is no shortage of things to look at when we take a break. We don't really have a reception area; if someone wants to talk to us, they just walk right into the work area. We spend our days sketching out ideas or finishing up pieces that people have asked for. It is messy and it is often disorganized, but we know where everything is. We just focus on the craft and getting the orders done for the local folks.
