Academic Heights Public School (Bachpan'S) is right in the thick of it in Ahmedabad 382350. It is a bit unusual for a school to be near a mall, but it works for the families around here. The sounds of the city are always in the background. We have the little ones running around in their uniforms, which is a funny contrast to the shoppers nearby. The hallways are decorated with things the kids have made, like finger paintings and paper cutouts. We spend a lot of time organizing the small chairs and making sure the play areas are safe. It is a local spot where parents drop off their children before heading to work or doing their errands. The air conditioning hums all day because Ahmedabad gets so hot. We don't use any fancy talk to describe what we do. We are just here, day in and day out, looking after the kids and helping them learn their first letters and numbers. Sometimes it is chaotic and loud, but that is the nature of a place like this. We are just a small part of the big Sardar Patel Mall community, doing our thing on Nikol Gam Road. Every morning we open the doors and get ready for another noisy, busy day with the children.
