Down in Loha Mandi, things are always moving. Our shop is No. 21/159, right by Pul Chinga Modi. If you reach the Loha Mandi Post Office, you are basically there. This part of town is all about metal, as the name says. We deal with all sorts of metal pieces every day. The shop is small and it gets quite cramped when we have a lot of stock coming in or going out. It’s a lot of lifting and carrying. We don't have air conditioning or anything like that, so in the summer it gets pretty warm under the roof. Most of our neighbors are doing the same thing as us, so there is always the sound of metal clanging and trucks backing up. We’ve been here long enough that we know most of the people on the street. It’s not a place for sitting around. You come in, you find the metal you need, and you move on. We spend our time checking weights and making sure the pieces are what they should be. It is a very basic way of working. No fancy computers for every little thing, just some notebooks and a scale. If you are looking for us, look for the sign near the post office. We are usually there from early morning until the sun goes down, just handling the daily metal trade like everyone else in this neighborhood. It is loud and dusty but it's what we know.
