Sharma Handloom Industries

Sharma Handloom Industries is located out at C- 28, Site- C in the Upsidc Indl. Area of Sikandra. Being in an industrial area means there is a lot of truck traffic and noise from the neighbors, but it works for what we do. We have been operating the handlooms here for years. It is a traditional way of doing things and it takes a lot of patience. Sometimes the threads break or the colors don't come out exactly right the first time, but we just start again. The shed gets pretty hot in the summer months, so we start early in the morning to beat the heat. We are not big on computers or fancy technology here. Most of our work is done by hand or with old machines that we have to oil constantly. My grandfather started something like this years ago and we just kept it going. It is hard to find people who want to do this kind of work nowadays, but our staff is reliable and they know the rhythm of the looms. We don't have a shiny showroom. It is just the workshop and a small area where we pack the finished goods into bundles. If you visit, you'll see stacks of yarn everywhere and the constant sound of the looms going. We don't talk much about goals or plans. We just look at the schedule for the week and try to finish everything.
