Jamalluddin Iron Works

Jamalluddin Iron Works is located at Plot No. T 104 in the industrial area. It's quite a spot, especially being so close to the Shikandra Monument. You can see the tourists heading that way while we are here working with metal and tools. Digpuri Road is always humming with the sound of trucks and machinery. Our workshop is usually covered in a bit of soot and iron dust, which is just part of the job. It gets really hot in the afternoons, especially when the sun hits the metal roof of the shed. We don't have fancy air conditioning or polished floors. It’s a place where things get made and fixed. Sometimes the noise of the hammers can be a bit much for people passing by, but for us, it’s just the sound of the day progressing. We’ve got a lot of old tools mixed in with some newer ones that we bought recently. There’s always a pile of scrap metal in the corner waiting to be sorted out. Most of the guys here have been doing this for years, so they know the rhythms of the machines by heart. We don’t spend time writing big reports or sitting in long meetings. If there is iron to be worked, we just get to it. It is physical work that leaves your hands dirty, but we get it finished. That is just how we do things here in this part of town. It stays basic.
