This isn't your typical office building. We are based out of Quarter Number E4/9 at the Manikgarh Cement Mines. It’s right here in Gadchandur, which is in the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra. Being located near the mines means it’s a bit dusty and the noise of the machinery is just part of the background here. Thyssenkrupp is the company, but on the ground, it’s just us working out of this space. We deal with the engineering and technical support for the equipment used in the mining operations. It’s a lot of hands-on work. Most of us live right here in the staff quarters, so the office is just a short walk away. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room. If you need someone, you just walk in and ask. The walls are a bit plain, and we have calendars pinned up to keep track of the maintenance schedules. It’s a tough environment but the people here are good. We drink a lot of chai and talk about the machines and how to keep them running without any hiccups. Life in a mining town is pretty straightforward. You work your shift, you help out your neighbors, and you try to stay cool in the heat. We aren't here to make a big impression, we are just here to do our jobs and keep the production moving along smoothly.
