Apollo Brick Co.

Apollo Brick Co. is situated in Village Darwa, out in the Gedhri District. It’s a rural spot, and we like it that way because there’s plenty of room for our operations. We’ve been out here for years, dealing with the mud and the heat that comes with making bricks. The post office is in Gedhri, but our hearts and our hands are always in the dirt at Darwa. We don't have any big corporate structure. It’s usually just a few of us making sure the molds are filled and the kiln stays hot enough through the night. It’s a tiring job, and we don't always get it perfect, but we try our best with what we have. Sometimes the supply of clay is better than other times, and we just work with what the land gives us. People in the district know us as the place to go when they’re putting up a new shed or a house. We don't spend money on fancy brochures or things like that. We’d rather spend that time making sure the bricks aren't cracking while they dry in the sun. It’s a slow process, but you can’t rush the fire once it gets going. We just keep moving one day at a time, making sure the trucks are loaded and the village stays supplied with what they need for building. There's always a new pile of earth waiting for us every morning when we start.
