About Sri Padallamma Rice Mill – Food & Beverages in West Godavari
We've been running this mill near Collectorate Junction in Kanapaka for quite some time now. It gets pretty loud and dusty inside when the machines are going, but that is just how the rice business works. Most of our days start early, usually before the sun is even fully up, because there is always a lot of grain waiting to be processed. People from around here know the building well since we are right at 6-5-351. It’s not a fancy place, just a workspace with sacks piled up and the smell of raw rice everywhere. We spend most of our time making sure the hulls are off and the grain looks okay before it goes out. Sometimes the machines act up or the power goes out, which can be a real headache, but we manage to get things back on track. It is a family effort mostly. My cousin handles the intake and I stay near the milling area to watch the output. We don't really have a big office or anything like that. Just a small desk in the corner with some old ledgers and a fan that barely works in the heat. It’s hard work, and by the end of the day, we’re usually covered in dust. But it pays the bills and keeps us busy. We don't do much advertising because everyone around the junction already knows where we are and what we do. It’s just simple, honest work day in and day out.
