We are situated in Anjangareddigudem, which is part of the West Godavari District. The main thing we do here is process corn into flour. The area is known for its agriculture, so we are right in the middle of where the raw materials come from. Our facility is basically a large shed with the milling machines lined up inside. When the machines are running, you can’t hear much else, so we mostly communicate with hand signals or wait until the break to talk. The smell of dried corn is everywhere. We spend hours making sure the grinders are at the right setting so the flour comes out just right, not too coarse and not too fine. It’s a repetitive job, but you have to pay attention. We often have to haul heavy sacks of grain from the trucks into the hopper, which is good exercise if nothing else. The heat in West Godavari can be quite intense, so we try to start our heavy work very early in the morning before the sun is high. We have a small area where we pack the flour into smaller bags for the local markets. It’s a straightforward operation. We don't have any fancy mission statements or marketing plans. We just take the corn that comes in and turn it into the flour that people need for their cooking. It keeps us busy and the machines humming along day after day.
