Universal Engineers

Universal Engineers is located at C-2/13 in the Maya Puri Industrial Area, Phase-II. If you know Mayapuri, you know it’s full of scrap metal and heavy machinery. Our unit is just one of many in this busy lane. It’s a loud place to work with all the hammering and grinding going on next door. We’ve been here long enough that we don't even notice the noise anymore. The space inside is quite small for what we do. We have machines lined up against the walls and barely enough room to walk in between them. There is no air conditioning so it gets very sweaty in the summer months. We just keep the big doors open and hope for a breeze. The floor is made of thick concrete and it’s covered in scratches and oil marks. We don't have a fancy sign outside, just the name painted on the metal door. Most of the guys here live a few bus stops away. We usually eat our lunch together on some crates in the corner. The tea guy comes around twice a day and that’s our main break. It’s not a glamorous job but it pays the bills. Phase-II can be a real maze for visitors so we often have to go out to the main road to guide them in. We don't have any polished sales talk. We just show people what we've done and let that speak for itself.
