The Begum Wazir

Our workshop is at C 55 in Mansarover Garden. We are right next to the Axis Bank, so we are easy to spot if you are in the area. This isn't a big retail store with mannequins in the window. It is more of a place where the actual sewing and designing happens. We have rolls of cloth stacked up against the walls and thread in every color you can think of. Most of our day is spent at the cutting table or behind a sewing machine. We do a lot of traditional outfits and custom work for people in the neighborhood. It gets quite busy during the festive months. We don't have a fancy waiting room. People usually just stand around or sit on the stools while we take their measurements. There is always the sound of machines running and people talking about fabric quality. We have been in Mansarover Garden for years, so we know most of our customers by name. Sometimes the electricity goes off and we have to wait a bit, but that's just part of life here. We don't do much on social media or anything like that. People find us because they like the work we do. It’s a bit of a messy, creative space, but we know where everything is. We just keep working until the orders are finished and the customers are satisfied.
